Gibraltar is home to many defence walls which separated the old city from the sea and protected the city. These walls built over different occupations by the Moors, the Spanish and the British protected what many considered valuable to keep, and this was a location so strategic that it was known by the Romans in the 1st Century. Gibraltar even saw the Neanderthals inhabit the Rock 150,000 to 24,000 years ago.

This tour leads us along these historic walls and into the heart of town where we take on the history of Gibraltar from the main central plaza, Casemates Square steeped in history. We will walk along Main Street and Irish Town, the busy shopping hub to see the Gibraltar Parliament Building, the Law Courts, the Cathedral of St Mary the Crowned, the Convent where the Governor of Gibraltar resides, the Office of the Chief Minister, and the famous Trafalgar Cemetery dating back to the famous Battle in 1805, where Lord Nelson lost his life.
